Nayeli (Pronounced: Nigh-yell-ee)

Sweet baby girl Nayeli is a TRUE RESCUE!  Her name is very fitting for her past life.  Ancient Mayans (and Zapotec Indians) would use the word Nayeli to tell someone "I love you." :)

UPDATE:  Nayeli has completed her heartworm treatments like a champ!  She has become fully housetrained, crate trained, and potty trained.  She is allowed to free roam the house all day and she doesn't touch a thing (unless there is food close to the edge of the counter). :)  She will bark initially when you leave but quiets quickly.  Nayeli MUST HAVE ANOTHER DOG in the home.  She becomes very anxious if no other dogs are around.

Nayeli MUST HAVE a 6 foot privacy fencing!!  She likes to climb chain link fences or shorter fences to explore her neighborhood.  :)

She is phenomenal with kids.  Nayeli doesn't startle easily.  She currently lives in a home with 3 other dogs and 2 children under the age of 4.  She loves to check in on the kids at night and cuddles with everyone when they arrive home.  :)

Nayeli is a GEM!  Let us know if she sounds like a great fit for your family!!!! :)

NAYELI'S INITAL ARRIVAL

Nayeli was found in the backyard of a home tied to a dog house with no bottom in it and mud all around her.  She was confined to her area by a 16 pound logging chain!!!!!!  Her body had started to deteriorate due to lack of food and care.  She was truly lucky that an animal control officer just happened to see her peeking her head out from her "dog house."

Once removed from the yard, it was found that Nayeli was being neglected.  Her entire body was covered in layers of yuck!  She smelled, had had no food in some time, no water available to her, and was living in a dog house with no floor.  Yet, she was the sweetest girl when the loving hand of the animal control officer came to release her (and another dog) from the property.  (the previous owner has since been found guilty of neglect and sentenced).

Nayeli spent a few weeks gaining back weight and being evaluated by vetrinarians.  It was discovered that Nayeli's journey was only just beginning.  Nayeli was diagnosed with heartworms. :(

She has since moved to foster care in Des Moines, Iowa.  She lives with 2 children under the age of 4 and another resident female doggy.  Nayeli knows sit, shake and down.  She is crate trained but does bark when you initially put her in.  She wants to be with her people!! :)  Because Nayeli has always been with other dogs, and due to her past experiences, she would fare better in a home with another dog...BUT NO CATS! She likes to see what is on the counter from time to time but is getting better with controlling her urges.  :)  At night she sleeps in a big cushy doggy bed with her foster sister and will let you sleep in if you ask her to lie down for a quick 5 minute snooze on the alarm. :)

Nayeli was given the okay to start the process to treat her heartworms.  It is an uphill and EXPENSIVE battle.  Her treatments will cost just over $1000!!!  Nayeli is currently available for sponsorship.  The money would go directly to her heartworm treatments.

Thank you for taking a peek at our wonderful girl Nayeli.  If you think she may be a fit for your home, once she is healthy enough for adoption, please inquire on her.  She truly is a RESCUE doggy. :)
