Hey, there, Tucker here! Wanted to give you the low down on my situation and see if you might be the perfect furever family for me. I am a handsome and I mean like above average handsome for a GSP (I’m not vain my foster mom tells me this multiple times daily so; I mean she must be right!:-) My first home wasn’t ideal for a handsome, smart, energetic lover like me but, hey their loss, right? Thankfully, I was surrendered and hit the jackpot with an awesome foster mom, dad and two GSP foster siblings so, in the very short time I’ve been with my foster family I have already made great gains in learning what it means to be a part of a pack. Here’s what I’ve learned so far.

I’ve learned I love, love, love other dogs! I love to play tug of war and chase with my foster siblings, but I have also learned what it means to be part of a pack and have figured out the pecking order in my foster pack! But I mean if I was the “Only Dog” doted on night and day by my people well, I mean I guess I could get used to that!

I’m a little bit shy right at first with adults but after just a few minutes and a good sniffing I warm right up. I’m a good judge of character ya know! I love kids and am learning that I can love them without jumping on them. But darn it, I’m a puppy and I get can’t help but get excited about little people. So, I’m going to need some additional training when it comes to not getting too excited. But did I mention I’m really smart and a quick learner?

I love to take walks and run. My foster mom and dad said I’m really good on the leash, but I do tend to get a little bit distracted sometimes on my walks. (I mean there are so many messages to stop and smell do you blame me?) When I’m not on walks I’ll settle for a nice yard either real fence or my foster family has an invisible fence and I’m learning how to navigate that well. Oh, and did I mention, I’ve totally got the doggie door thing mastered.

Potty training is going well and my foster mom says I’ve pretty much have it mastered! In my first home, I didn’t have any rules about where it was appropriate to go potty but, I’ve been with my foster family for over two weeks now and only a couple of accidents. My foster family has these things on their door that jingle!! It’s cool I hit them, and they let me out. However, most of the time I prefer to stand at the door and give them that “look” and a whine, and they open the doggie door for me.

As for the crate training, it only took me a couple nights to feel safe in my crate to go to sleep and when my foster family is not a home. At night, I now only whine when I need to go potty. I’m starting to realize my crate is a safe space not a punishment. Again, I am a puppy so, I’m not quite old enough to hold in a kennel for extended periods of time but I can go a few hours and as I get older, I’ll be able to go longer.

I’m a goof! There’s not much I take too seriously except treats and food!! Treats and food are serious business! I’d say I’m a foodie! I’m obsessed with food. My foster mom and dad are working with me on this, but right now and so I’m being fed in a separate space, so I don’t try to eat everyone’s dog food. My foster mom and dad also have me eating out of a special bowl that makes me slow down my eating. Now I can taste my food instead of just inhaling it and it’s delicious!! Treats, did you say treats? I will do just about anything for a treat!! Even stuff I really don’t want to do. But treats are life!!

All in all, Tucker is a sweet, happy, energetic, wants to please Velcro dog and we can tell you absolutely if you adopt Tucker, you will NEVER EVER have to worry about going to the bathroom by yourself again!! He will make a great addition to a family that is familiar with active sporting breeds and can give him the love, exercise, and consistent training he needs. In return, he wants to make you happy and be loved. If this is what you are looking for Tucker’s, your guy!
