Smokey is a great boy!!!  He is a 2 year old sweetheart that wants nothing more than to be apart of a family.  Smokey is relearning how to be an inside dog.  He is easily trained and extremely smart.  Smokey is excellent with small children (allowed his 17 month old 2 legged foster brother to lie on Smokey's belly. :), although he hasn't quite figured out his size yet...so some bumps might happen.  Smokey is awesome with other dogs and everyone he meets.   The shelter has tested him with cats and he passed with flying colors (the foster home does NOT have cats so this has not been verified with the foster). He is crate trained and is learning to communicate his need to go outside. Smokey is currently working on leash skills and his ability to sit prior to entering and exiting the house.

Smokey has been in foster care for only a short time and already has a firm grasp of the routine.  Smokey is very playful and still has some puppy behaviors (jumping up out of excitement - has only happened once and being mouth when he wants to play (places his mouth around your hand or arm gently when he is trying to play with you).

Smokey is waiting for a new family to take the lead.  He is very much lab in his laid back behaviors and willingness to please.  He is very gsp in his wanting to play and interest in squirrels and birds. :)

 

Smokey would be a wonderful addition to any active to semi-active family.  He would thrive in a home with another dog but it isn't required.  Smokey would also do excellent in a home with children of all ages.  He is extremely tolerant!!  Smokey is located in Des Moines, IA.
